When people thought of Dorayaki, for sure they will link to Doraemon, unless you belongs to the much younger generation who only watch Pocoyo or Ben Ten! Dorayaki is a kind of Japanese pancake stuffed with red bean, and there are dorayaki which was filled with red bean ice cream too. Dorayaki is formed by two separate words: Dora, means gong (铜锣) and yaki means pan fried or grilled. Dora in Doraemon, however, does not mean "gong"-emon. It is just a pun adapted by this cartoon series created by Fujiko Fujio since year 1969.
Two weeks ago when I visited the Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo at Viva Home, I did not missed the opportunity to try the Dorayaki. But before I reveal much let's look back to some of my Dorayaki experience, some years ago!
