No, wait! I don't think no#5 going to work just like that! Even if it's work, it's not gonna taste like those Chillies Pan Mee in KL. So, before I manage to get the recipe, let's try the Dried Chillies Pan Mee at Tasty Place Restaurant at Towering Koidupan Perdana (Near Madam Ing Fish Noodle). They serve very good Braised Chicken as well! Do ask for "Champion Soy Sauce Chicken"!

Crab at New Luyang Restaurant, Kota Kinabalu

[Non-Halal]

Just realised I never write anything regarding this restaurant despite being one of my most recommended restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. Located near Luyang Police Station (Pondok Police Luyang), just before the second Petronas Station along Jalan Kolam if you are coming from KK towards Lintas. Never missed the New Luyang Restaurant's signature crab in "Kam Heong" (金香)style. Medium size (about 2 crabs /kg) meaty mud crab was wok-fried in curry leaves, dried shrimp and chillies, preserved the succulent crab meat inside. You will not find any crab dishes on their menu because they do not need to do so, the crab here is so famous!

Not too spicy, liked it!

1 kg of crabs normally cost around RM30

Deep Fried Pork Knuckle with Thai Chilli Sauce

Kangkung Belacan - always the best vege ever

Mixed Tofu

Sabah Sayur Manis

Sweet & Sour Pork

Cannot find any crab dishes on the menu

New Luyang Restaurant

Great food at reasonable price, New Luyang Restaurant is a restaurant that never disappoint me!

Recipes House Japanese Cafe @ Damai Plaza, Kota Kinabalu

[Serve No Pork]

I believe most Japanese food lover in KK know Recipes House in Damai. Serve double as a restaurant and a food market, you can find fresh cut salmon, tuna, seaweed, Japanese food and beverage as well as take-away bento and sushi from Recipes House. The cafe half is pretty small, so do expect full house during weekend!

Menu

California Temaki - RM4.00
Fresh and crispy seaweed

Smoked Duck with Black Pepper - RM10+
Very very nice boneless smoked duck

Shiro Maguro (Butter Fish) Sashimi -RM15+

Tori Kuwayaki Bento - RM15.90

Shishamo - RM9.90
Grilled fish with many fish eggs

The retail part...

Fresh fish is selling fast!

Just like their sister restaurants Wojamama, price range at Recipes House is very reasonable. Green tea is free flow here, but don't forget to inform the cashier how many of you took it, it's RM1.60/pax.

Grabbing Hands @ Metro Town, Kota Kinabalu

[Serve No Pork]

Multiple formation of tables, all in irregular color mix-and-match scattered around the restaurant with eye catching artwork hanging on the wall made of Rubik's Cube, Grabbing Hands is the latest addition of gourmet burger restaurants in Kota Kinabalu. Located next to Pregio the coffee specialist and opposite Lucy's Kitchen at Metro Town, the young management team of Grabbing Hands creatively positioned themselves as the equation of Art + Food, offers something different, despite minor, than the competitors. I have tried the signature beef burger here -  the Down Under, a thick layer of beef patty with pineapple, beef bacon, egg and salad paired with an ungraded Truffle Oil Fries. The overall portion was pretty huge that I cannot finish my fries at the end, but the beef patty was well seasoned and the burger was impressive. Love it!

Down Under (RM22)
Beef Burger with 150g patty, turkey slice, pineapple,  beef bacon,
egg, onions, tomato and lettuce.
Additional RM5 for an truffle oil fries upgrade

Big portion of Aussie-like burger, without the beetroot.

Molten Cheese Sandwich (RM14)
Country bread with beef bacon, turkey ham, and melted cheese.
Additional RM3 to convert fries to onion rings.

3 layers of sandwich, inside was too dry/plain.

Interior, believe it or not? All these art work are made of Rubik's Cube!

Another art work

Creative art work for sale

Will definitely come back to try other food1

Mango Smooth (RM11.50)
Not an ordinary smoothies as expected, they don't use milk or ice cream.
Just mango meat / puree.

Pretty expensive (RM60+ for 2pax, lunch) for the food here but great dining environment. There are so much more to be discovered here so definitely will return again. Hope they keep up the quality!

Typica Cafe @ Shaw Parade, KL

[Halal]

Coffea arabica varietal Typica, together with C. arabica var. Arabica, are the oldest type of Arabica coffee and the "ancestor" of many other coffee species grown today. Arabica Typica produces finest coffee bean but only in a small quantity. Taking commercial values into consideration, most coffee farmers preferred the other types of Arabica coffee which harvest more beans and better in disease resistant.

Occupying a small corner at Shaw Parade near Berjaya Time Square KL since 4 years ago, Typica Cafe is famous for their consistently high quality cup of coffee. You can expect a very unique coffee experience here, just like a coffee classroom or laboratory. Typica Cafe know their coffee very well, they hand pick and roast their own coffee bean! Depends on supply, you can get a few varieties of single origin coffee here.

Entrance of Typica Cafe, near the rear entrance of
Shaw Parade, Ground Floor

Hand-packed coffee powder for take-away.
To ensure the best quality of coffee, all these hand-packed coffee
are prepared  in small quantity and on daily basis.
RM3.80/pack for Central America Arabica and Malaysian Liberica

Honey Ice Dripped Coffee
Ice Drip is the method Typica Cafe used for any
ice coffee here.

Potato Cheese Cake (Left) and Orange Cheese Cake

I prefered the orange cheese cake :)

Me

Mango Ice Dripped Coffee, naturally ripened sweet mango with some
hints of sour Pamelo. What a great combination!

This is how to "eat" a coffee

Big Fish
Just a simple advice here: Do not panic with the coffee menu at Typica Cafe, just describe how you like your coffee to be. For example, I don't prefer my coffee too sour and I don't mind trying some fruity or flowery scent coffee... just tell your barista and let them recommend! Else, just follow your sense! If you are looking for Kopi Luwak or Geisha here, do pay a visit to Typica Cafe ASAP before the bean sold out!
