Revisit: Lucy's Kitchen @ 88 Marketplace

[SERVE NO PORK]

Purposely went to try out the Char Kueh Teow (fried broad rice noodle) at Lucy's Kitchen after a friend of mine asked to recommend a nice "Halal" Char Kueh Teow in KK. This restaurant doesn't have a Halal certificate but its a Serve No Pork restaurant and well received among the Muslim community. Besides Char Kueh Teow, I also ordered the restaurant's signature Lau Sar Sesame Ball to see any difference compared to last time. For me, consistency in food's quality can only be achieved if the boss really do the cooking, or the chefs really follow stringent rules / recipe in food preparation.

The signature dessert -- Lau Sar (custard) Sesame Ball (RM5.90)
The name "Lau Sar" is translated as the "liquid sand", hence suggested
the inside of this deep fried glutinous ball is some milky + salted egg
custard filling which is still in its liquid form while biting it hot,
just like a molten gold!  A failure version of this Lau Sar ball is when
the filling is solidified, which doesn't appear in state of  a "liquid sand".

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant @ Paradigm Mall, PJ

Had our secondary school mates gathering and to receive "red bomb" (Invitation Card to the Wedding Dinner Reception) from Garry Fernandes last January. Congrats to Garry, sorry for couldn't attend your big day! My flight quota from KK-KL is quite limited.

the server lighted up the little torch underneath. Yes, my friend, Chan waited

(Food is OK, but not satisfy with the service. All of their waiters are foreign workers from Pakistan who are unable to speak proper English, nor they are attentive enough to our request. Definitely not up to my expectation to a public listed chain restaurants in Japan Exchange.)

L'Atelier French Restaurant @ Lintas Jaya, KK [RELOCATED]

The word "L'Atelier" simply means "the workshop" in French. But when we come to a "workshop" for food preparation, we called it "the kitchen" in English. L'Atelier Restaurant Et Barre is the second French restaurant opened in Kota Kinabalu after Le Safran. Just a quick reminder here to all foodiots: Le Safran has moved to The Peak Vista from Sura Sabah, do call 010-9560860 for more details

L'Atelier is located at Lintas Jaya, near Open University Malaysia (OUM) KK. It's a corner shop just opposite The One Hotel, bet you won't missed it easily! Do check-by even if you see the light dimmed (once I thought they were closed!), they are open for lunch and dinner daily except Monday! Chef Alex took our order while recommended some popular dishes to us. We finally decided to go for a Ham and Cheese Platter for the appetizer, Roast Duck and Lamb for the mains, followed by a cream puff as our dessert.

Smoked Duck in Tangerine Sauce

The skin was crispy like Peking Duck but the smoky meat tells the difference between two, this dish was so rich in flavors you won't
want anything remained on the plate!


Boneless Lamb in Plum Sauce
 
The meat was very succulent, but the unexpected one was the plum sauce.
I never know lamb steak can be paired with fruit-based sauce and be that nice!
Highly recommended for all lamb lover.

I have very limited knowledge on French Cuisine (of course not French Fries!), very difficult to find one restaurant too! Unlike Italian Food, there are much more to explore in French Cuisine. I remember when I was small my mom already cooked spaghetti at home (authentic or not another story to tell!) but we seldom see people share about the French's. My first dining experience at a French restaurant was years back at Bukit Bintang with my buddies. However the memory was not that pleasant because I was offered hare meat (rabbit)!
