Ah Ing & David's Fish Head Noodle @ Towering Koidupan Perdana, Penampang

KK never short of good fish head noodle, as KL never hard to find a good bowl of hot and sour Tomyam. Ah Ing & David's Fish Head Noodle is always my favourite since four years ago when they started the business in Rainfield Court. This couple then moved to Millennium Plaza before settled down at the current address few months ago.

Every famous fish head noodle got their own uniqueness and recipe, Ah Ing & David's never similar to the also popular Fatt Kee (Restaurant Jin Jin) at Hilltop. Ah Ing & David's fish soup is pickled bak-choy (Ham Choy) -based while Fatt Kee uses tomatoes to make their soup. The taste and aroma is totally different.

No signboard, only a banner. They practice this since last time!

MUST TRY: Meehun Soup with Deep Fried fish meat (isi ikan).
Don't forget to ask for evaporated milk. Also don't miss the
Fish-tofu (Yu-Fu), taste really good! (RM8)

They are using Dong Guan Meehun, a thicker version of vercimili (meehun),
which absorb the soup and make it very tasty.

Too bad if you can't take chilli, this special blend add-on the heat.
Without this the satisfaction level drops 30-40%, it could be the main
reason why I love Ah Ing & David's Fish Head Noodle.

Oh ya... if you notice that I didn't order any fish head here. Not everyone like it nor knowing how to enjoy the soft bone and skin / skull. I normally order only the deep fried fish meat or fish stomach (perut ikan). Remember to ask for the milk, it do make a different. Personally I don't prefer their Kon-Lo Mee, so just skip it.

Samurai Beef Burger @ McDonalds

Couple of days ago I saw this ad on FB:

The new Samurai Beef Burger with Sakura McFizz and Katsu Curry McShaker fries

Look at the lettuce and patty, so tempting....

So I decided to bring my girlfriend to try out the new burger yesterday. We went to the McD at Api-api Centre. Every evening, especially during weekend this particular area in KK town always occupied by youngsters, "lepak-ing" (hang out) or just doing nothing.

Considering Samurai Beef Burger is just newly launched, most of the people here in the restaurant was ordering this new burger. I ordered 1 Large Samurai Beef Burger Meal with the limited edition Sakura McFizz (RM12.45) for myself, and an à la carte Samurai Beef Burger (RM8.65).

So... here the real look of the Samurai Beef Burger

The burger was called Samurai simply because the beef patty was dipped in the
Japanese-origin teriyaki sauce, not because the Samurai invented the burger
nor the sauce made by a Samurai, which is scary if they really do.

This red-colored carbonated drink called Sakura McFizz is a mixture of
Ribena and Sprite, but there is no Ribena taste.

Katsu Curry McShaker Fries, taste like our Childhood snack Twisties.
The name suggested its not Japanese-origin because it make no sense
to me. Katsu generally refer to "cutlet", for example, Chicken-katsu
means chicken cutlet and tonkatsu means pork cutlet, but how can you
cut a curry? So it should be called (which might be wrong)
"Potato Katsu Curry McShakers", HAHA!!!

Conclusion: The beef patty was well cooked and flavored in sweet teriyaki (a kind of Japanese soy sauce), however the portion is too small. Considering the price (RM8.65) I can simply get a Double Cheese Burger (RM7.65) or a QuarterPounder (RM8.45). I can even get them during McValue Lunch or Dinner, its much cheaper, which is not available for the Samurai's version. Not really worth the value for that additional of teriyaki sauce but good to just try out if you are a fans of burger because its just for a limited time only!

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf @ Damai Plaza, KK

We've tried out The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL)'s breakfast set twice and they are quite nice despite a bit pricey. Then another time during a tea break I ordered a croissant tuna sandwich but the croissant was cold and so the fish, like, icy cold that I requested the waitress to toast for me. The come back was equally terrified, so forget about mentioning it here today.

Still, we decided to try their dinner. We know it won't get anything wrong with salad, so salad for BigFish. For mine, the waitress happily recommended Special Roast Chicken with Minestrone Soup which then was out of order and was exchanged with Vegetable Soup. Actually if they didn't tell me about the soup, I wouldn't have realize that the bowl was not the one as I was told. I only know Minestrone Soup is a type of vege soup but I don't know how it taste like!

Very well, back to the point.

CBTL's Caesar Salad was excellent, if not the best in town! I wouldn't need to explain much how delicious it is because as long as you get the ingredient right, you will get it right. The Roast Chicken was fine only too plain, with that kind of price tag (RM20+ for a quarter chicken) I am expecting a little bit more from the kitchen, not just lots of mushroom gravy.

Dun forget CBTL offers tea too, not just coffee!

Station One Leisure Cafe @ Suria Sabah, KK ***CLOSED***

Many years ago during my college time in KL, Station One was just a cafe not really emphasize on their food. People mostly go there for a drink and bites of finger food while enjoying their college time with friends. Now, they got so much variety of food to choose from! Western, local, noodle, snacks and lots of drinks for selection. The only thing that they never change much is, all Station One comes with live band / live performance which perform everyday.

They do serve beer, but not pork.

In recent years KK attracted many food franchisee's attention, for example, established bubble tea brand from KL/oversea like Share Tea and Ochado opened back-to-back here. Another best example was Fullhouse who opened in Suria Sabah early this year, copied almost all essential "trade-mark" or elements from the original store to here.

Similar theme as the KL one

Marlyn Monroe?

Ice Lemon Tea (RM5.50)
Besides this, Station One also famous for their 1L Nestea

I think I saw this somewhere else... UPPERSTAR?

New Zealand Lamb Chop (RM20.90)

Black Pepper Chicken Chop (RM15.50)

The food is average but is still palatable, good choice as a meal stop after

Miyabi Japanese Restaurant @ Damai Plaza, KK

I believe not many KK-ites know about this Japanese restaurant.
However from the appearance and furniture I assumed they have been in the business for quite some years! Miyabi Japanese Restaurant is located at Damai Plaza, but due to its location at the 1st floor, I don't realize its existence until recently!

Korokke - deep fried minced meat with dipping sauce RM12
Quite nice!
Sushi set RM26
Assorted grills: Chicken Skin and meat, RM1.50 each

Worth to try!

Gayang Seafood Restaurant @ Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran

I never really give bad comments on the quality of any restaurant, but for the sack of my readers and all food lovers, I am writing with sincere heart that this restaurant will change and improve as respect to food and customers.

Gayang Seafood Restaurant is never a stranger to any KK-ites, perhaps it is so well known that few of my friends mentioned to me throughout the years I resides in KK. They are so famous that they recently upgraded their premise with better facilities and environment, not far from the old one. Gayang is always full of people especially during weekend, that the waitress work like a princess: they don't bother you at all! When we were there, we have to stood in front of the aquarium for awhile to wait for our turn to be entertained. I don't want to elaborate much on their staff or how greasy was the floor, I am only interested in their food. So here my comments:

The place is larger and the floor no longer wooden/ floating above the shore

ABC... simple syrup type of ABC...

My best friend YL and her bf Nic came over to Sabah to play. Happy couple!

Yay! Luckily the next seafood restaurant I bring them to eat is good, otherwise
I would close all my food blogs and stop telling people I am a foodiot.

Teow Chew Steam Siakap... overcooked

Sambal pakis.... its overcooked!!!

Best dishes of the evening, you can't go wrong with this snail unless overcook.

Kam Heong Crab... too much curry powder, regret to order this...

BigFish & I

Weird taste coconut pudding, the waitress eventually smell the pudding
every time she took the pudding out from the fridge. Maybe she already knew
that these pudding was not in good condition. Luckily no food poisoning...

So here my second experience with Gayang Seafood Restaurant. The first visit was not on par as well, but I don't want to talk more here. Given the fact that many tourist and food lovers know this place, I really wish they would improve the quality to match their fame. Please don't disappoint us la~
