Semporna Holiday Resort @ Semporna

I had a simple lunch at the Semporna Holiday Resort with my client. As you all know, Semporna and its surrounding islands and reefs housed the best diver's spots of the world, so do expect some photo with Nemo swimming around me while eating...

OK I am kidding.

I was rushing on my work duty at Semporna so diving/snorkeling here was purely PROHIBITED unless my boss suddenly got "lubang" (means oppurtunity with a sense of fortune) to sell diving equipments or turtle GPS-tagging system etc XD

The food at Semporna Holiday Resort was extraordinary cheap, can you imagine a plate of butter prawn enough for 2 person only cost RM8? Too bad the weather was so hot both of us got no appetite to eat so we ordered only very little.

My Secret Recipe: Fried Prawn Coated with Salted Egg

Fried Prawn Coated with Salted Egg



Introduction:
Fried prawn is always an all time favourite and a perfect dish when you are serving children too. I still remember how excited was I when I was small everytime I visited my mom-side grandmother, one of the dishes popo made was this--- fried prawn. It was the memory that will never fade away, the taste and flavour that serve as the proof how my popo loves us. Miss you.
 Then, when I grown up I always got chance to taste Crab or prawn in Salted Egg, very delicious, and almost every eateries came out with slightly different taste and texture. I believe its the way of preparation and the ingredient that made the different. So, without seeing a recipe, I am using my observation in the past, my memory, and my instint about how to prepare the fried prawn coated with salted egg.    

Ingredients:
Part A = prawn, pepper, salt, corn flour
Part B = 2 salted eggs (yolk only), 3 big spoon of butter, 5 strips of curry leaf, 5 slices of fresh ginger, 1 clove of garlic, salt & pepper to taste 

Method and Discussion: 

Step one. Clean and peel off the shell of the prawn, remember to remove the intestine. Put in the remaining of Part A which are salt & pepper to taste, marinate for about an hour. Just before you deep fry the prawn, pat dry it on the corn flour, so that the prawn is lightly coated.
Fried prawn

2 salted egg yolk, steamed for 10 min, and crushed using folk.
Part of ingredient B: ginger, garlic and curry leaf

Melt the butter, then add in all ingredient in Part B. Sauteed until the mixture bubbles. I am not kidding here, the salted egg bubbles after a while, and this is the timing to add in the prawn.

OK, almost done!
Done!

A bit too dry, can be improved by adding more butter (6 big spoon instead of 3) and more egg yolk (3 instead of 2). Should buy larger prawn eg. tiger prawn which has better texture (but more expensive la!). In my opinion, do not leave the prawn shell on because this will prevent flavouring. Should put in some cili padi for a spicier kick.

Kuo Man Restaurant @ Suria Sabah

Kuo Man Restaurant serves one of the famous seafood noodle in KK. Few years ago their HQ at Jalan Tuaran used to be my favourite spot for breakfast but since the street parking is very limited, I seldom go there anymore. Maybe they heard my complain (which are unlikely) or found new opportunity to expand their business, Kuo Man opened a branch at Suria Sabah's food court.

Kuo Man Restaurant is located at Suria Sabah Food Court, same row as the chicken & sasau rice. SERVE NO PORK.

Very chewy like fishball yet coarse like a meat. Probably the best "yu hua" in town!

Oh ya... their "Ngiu Chap" (Beef Stew) is famous too!

Kampung Chicken Pot @ Damas 118 Plaza, KK

BigFish and I just visited the newly opened Kampung Chicken Pot at Damas 118 Plaza, Jalan Penampang Bypass here. If you can remember, the QQ Cafe Satay Celup is located at this area too!

SERVE NO PORK

I do not know if there is any changes in the future, but from what I saw from the menu (and the "coming soon" menu) this restaurant don't serve pork. Their famous dishes symbolised by the four seasons: the Spring Fish, the Summer Chicken, the Autumn Prawn and finally, the Winter Lamb. We tried the Summer Chicken, which was also called by the name: ChongQing Chicken Pot, is a popular dish across China since the recent years. I ever tried this dish few years ago at Kuchai Entrepreneur Park but not sure if its still open now?

Special chili paste I guess its no other ingredient but anchovies, dried chilies, garlic and shallot onion. Liked it so much that I finished a full soy sauce plate of this chili!
Summer Chicken Pot: The Chongqing's definition of hot & spicy (RM18/small, for 2 person)
The chicken is flavourful with various herbs and spices, including dried chilies, onion, capsicum and basil. Its quite spicy although we already asked the waiter for "less spicy" thus less dried chilies version of Summer Chicken... Patrons are given option to add-on mushrooms (choose from shitake, abalone, or button mushroom, RM3.50 each portion). Don't forget to tell the waiter (in case they didn't ask) how spicy you can take otherwise...!!!

The day before I had this Winter Lamb as my lunch, cost me approximately RM9 with rice. The meat so tender and sweet make it a perfect lunch for me! Lamb lover definitely cannot miss this restaurant!

Share Tea @ Centre Point Sabah, KK

Famous Taiwanese bubble tea Share Tea now opened in Sabah! Being the third franchise in Malaysia after Berjaya Times Square and Sungei Wang (both in Bukit Bintang, KL), Share Tea chose to open in Centre Point Sabah, just nearby the "local king" of bubble tea in Sabah, the Yoyo Cafe (2nd floor of Centre Point, near the escalator)! What a brave move! The result? I went there during a busy Sunday afternoon and saw Yoyo Cafe was so crowded in contrast to Share Tea... Maybe we still prefer Sabahan brand hahaha!!!

Share Tea was engaged with HK artist Eric Tsang as their brand ambassador, you can see his big-head-cartoon-character's paperboard in front of the tea shop!

All Share Tea products including Natural Fruit Tea and Taiwan Classic Milk Tea available in various degree of sweetness according to your preference. You can choose the beverage's temperature too! I think this is something different compared to Yoyo, and since people are more concern into healthy lifestyle, Share Tea can utilise their strength to gain popularity!

We ordered with so called the "default" sweetness, and it's just alright for us, not so sweet!

Real yam, not yam flavoured powder blended with milk. Still can chew the yam inside my mouth :)


So I already tried the first 2 types of beverage here ^^

Fruits Monster @ Lintas Square, KK

It has a funny but creative name --- Fruits Monster, like Cookie Monster who loves cookies, Fruits Monster is all about fruit. They serves fruit juice, shaved ice with fruits, sago with fruits....even their signature Chicken Chop topped with Fruit Jam too!

Avocado Sago Ice
Its the fresh avocado puree with sweetend milk topped with fresh cut avocado and sago, I am a big fans of avocado juice so this is definitely suit my taste.

Mango QQ Ice

The base was mango flavored shaved ice topped with very sweet fresh mango cut and the QQ jelly. I think QQ means very chewy in Chinese...
Fruits Monster's Menu
Although Fruits Monster sound like a place which only provide dessert and drink (so called a yum cha place) but actually they do beyond this! Pineapple Chicken Chop is just one of the great food serves here, but also pasta, pizza and some other Western Food as well as Local Cuisine!
